Your data
Privacy and cookies
The short version: no cookies, no tracking, no adverts and no accounts. We don't collect anything about you.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or adverts. It loads no fonts or scripts from other companies.
The catch log
The catch log saves your sessions in your own browser's local storage, on your device only. It is never sent to us or anyone else. If you clear your browser data, it's gone, so use the download button to keep a copy. You can delete it at any time from the catch log page.
Remembered settings
A few pages remember small choices in your browser's local storage, such as the region you picked on the home page or the postcode you last searched from on the Marks page. These stay on your device.
Newsletter sign-up
The newsletter box at the foot of each page is not connected to any service yet. If you type your email address and press the button, the page shows a "coming soon" message and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. Before we connect a newsletter service, we'll update this page to say which company runs it, what it keeps and how to unsubscribe.
Postcode lookup
When you type a postcode on the Marks page and press Go, your browser sends that postcode to postcodes.io, a free service that turns it into a rough location. postcodes.io is run by a third party and has its own privacy policy. Nothing else is sent. If you'd rather not, use only the first half of your postcode, or don't use the feature.
Your location
If you press "Use my location", your browser asks your permission first. Your location is used on your device to sort marks by distance. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else.
Links to other sites
Links to tide services, regulators, maps and video channels take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Hosting
Like any website, the company that hosts this site may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security. We don't use them to identify anyone.
