What you need
- Mainline
- 8–12lb
- Spinner
- Size 1–3 blade on a wire shaft, or a ready-made Mepps-style spinner
- Hook
- Single, size 4–1, replacing the treble
- Bait
- 2–3cm of ragworm
Build it
- Swap the treble for a single hook.
- Thread a short piece of ragworm onto the hook, leaving a little tail.
- Tie on with a swivel above to cut line twist.
- Retrieve just fast enough to spin the blade.
On the beach
Keep the worm short. A long tail stops the blade spinning and gets nipped off without a hook-up.
