Droppers
3 × size 10 swivels with beads and crimps

20–25lb

Build it

  1. Tie the top swivel to the body.
  2. Work down the body: dropper, shield, dropper, shield, dropper, shield. Leave all crimps loose.
  3. Tie on the lead link.
  4. Space the droppers about 45cm apart, each with its shield just below the next dropper down.
  5. Tie on snoods and hooks, trim each to reach its shield, then crimp everything.
On the beach

Bait all three smaller than you would on a two-hook rig. Three small worm baits often out-fish two big ones for whiting.

Knots for this rig are in Knots. Line strengths, hook sizes and weights are starting points: scale them to your tackle, the ground and the tide. Diagrams are schematic and not to scale.
