What you need

Mainline
30–50lb braid with a 60–80lb leader
Body
60–80lb mono, ~60cm
Droppers
1–2 dropper loops
Teasers
Muppets or hokai on 4/0 hooks
Pirk
8–16oz, chrome or glow
Hook
Treble, or a single to reduce snags

Build it

  1. Tie a swivel to the top of the body.
  2. Tie one or two dropper loops 25cm apart.
  3. Loop on the teasers.
  4. Tie or split-ring the pirk to the bottom of the body.
On the beach

Drop to the bottom, wind up two or three turns, then lift and drop. On rusty wrecks, a single hook loses far fewer pirks than a treble.

Knots for this rig are in Knots. Line strengths, hook sizes and weights are starting points: scale them to your tackle, the ground and the tide. Diagrams are schematic and not to scale.
